Al-Manhal fundraiser

DKK 400.00

Please join us on Monday, 6th October for a fundraiser for Al-Manhal, a community bakery and bookstore opening this fall in Damascus, Syria. We will enjoy a night of delicious Syrian food, a conversation with Al-Manhal cofounder, Brant Stewart, as well as a raffle of some beautiful pieces of artwork and handcrafted items from Syria.

Al-Manhal is currently being renovated and is in need of money to help purchase bakery equipment for the 100-year old former bakery space, reviving an existing and disused wood oven in the very heart of the old city of Damascus. Al-Manhal will serve their community by making delicious baked goods and food accessible to a very wide customer base, including the most vulnerable in Syrian society. They will also provide an important and curated selection of books that will be heavily discounted and accessible to the general Syrian population, while also providing jobs to vulnerable Syrians. Al-Manhal will host book clubs, cultural events, and a wide range of discussions and classes, all working to highlight Syria's vast diversity in all its beautiful forms, along with using Syria's vast biodiversity to craft its baked goods.

All proceeds from the dinner and raffle will go to helping this important project get off the ground in the coming months.
